Calendar Crafting

TL;DR: Your calendar is a key part of communicating your work schedule with the team. We ask that you keep your calendar up-to-date, so uizards when can see when you’re available to hop on a call or to schedule some time directly in your calendar

Our Take on Calendars

Your calendar is a key part of communicating your work schedule with the team. We ask that you keep your calendar up-to-date, so uizards when can see when you’re available to hop on a call or to schedule some time directly in your calendar (say goodbye to back-and-forths in Slack to figure out a time )
With that said, each team might work a bit differently. Make sure to chat with your team about how they approach work together (stand-ups, brainstorming, sprint planning, retros, etc.) which can affect your calendar.

Pro Tips for Your Calendar

Here are the pro tips for managing your calendar on a remote-first team:
Set your working hours & location. This is important since we work in different time zones and want to be intentional about when we schedule meetings.
Add yourself to all the relevant team and org-wide meetings. Not sure which ones? Check with your manager or buddy to help you get set up.
Block time for focused work during the week on your calendar.
Add your out-of-office (OOO) days to your calendar so people don’t accidentally book time when you’re away.
Schedule meetings for your most unproductive time. Sounds counter-intuitive but low-energy times are generally best for meeting with people, whereas high-energy periods are best for focused work.
Schedule your breaks, just like you schedule your important meetings.
