We’re on a mission to transform spoken communication for individuals, teams and organizations of any size. Meetings may be our most information-rich channel for work, but suffer from a lack of structure and documentation. At Supernormal, we’re solving this problem with focus, design and craft.

We’ve been working on this since 2019 and have customers like Snap, Salesforce, Replay, Gitcoin, Pinterest and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we are growing rapidly and are excited for new teammates to join who are the best at what they do. Supernormal is a remote first company and does not require co-location. We have annual team retreats and gather several times a quarter.

About the role

Back-end engineers at Supernormal own projects large and small from start to finish. As a backend engineer, you’ll focus on building on and evolving our API consumed by clients including our web app and Chrome extension. You’ll help instrument our stack and make things fast. Most of all, you'll build reliable and secure services using the most advanced AI models to generate millions of high-quality meeting notes every month for a rapidly growing customer base. You’ll work closely with engineers, our machine learning team, and product designers to deliver incredible customer experiences.

What you’ll work on

• You’ll expand and maintain our Rails API
• You’ll build new features primarily with Ruby & Python
• You’ll continuously improve our codebase
• You’ll watch over and take care of our Postgres database and Redis instances
• You’ll stand up machines, internal dashboards, and other tooling to support our core services

In this role, you'll be expanding and maintaining our Rails API where you'll deploy your expertise in Ruby to establish robust business logic that supports processing millions of hours of meeting data.. You'll primarily use Ruby to build new features, but you won't be limited to just one technology. Collaboration will be key, as you engage with our AI researchers and engineers to bring state-of-the-art techniques, classifiers, and models from research to product. A key aspect of your role involves advocating for and implementing new, improved processes, ensuring that everything you touch leaves a lasting positive impact.

Our tech stack includes Ruby on Rails for backend development, Python for scripting, and JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend development with React. We manage our databases using Postgres and utilize Redis for caching.
