Senior Optometrist
Espoo, Finland · Washington, DC, USA · Lehi, UT, USA
We’re looking for a Senior Optometrist to provide the substance knowledge required to perfect and user test our products.
At IXI, we’re on a mission to transform the way the world sees. Hidden in IXI's frames is technology that tracks your eye movements. The lenses in our adaptive glasses instantly adapt, whether you're looking near or far. We are revolutionizing the eyewear industry, bringing cutting-edge technology to vision correction. Our main users are people with presbyopia, who today have to choose between carrying multiple pairs of glasses or living with the trade-offs of traditional multifocal lenses.
You’ll work as part of our product & user experience team, but your expertise is utilized in many teams across the company, such as lens development, manufacturing, and customer experience.
This role touches every part of the business, from users and product to sales. Your expertise will shape how we understand people's vision correction needs, how we build solutions for them, and how that ultimately reaches opticians and customers. Beyond your internal role, you will be the voice of IXI in the vision care community, promoting and presenting our product through your professional expertise in optometry (or ophthalmology).
The role is based in our Espoo HQ, requiring onsite presence on most days.
What You’ll Do
You work to make sure that vision correction expertise shows in our product and team.
Act as leading expert on clinical trials, from design through to execution to close in co-operation with user research. Participate in coordinating outside partners, internal teams, timelines and making sure studies are run rigorously and efficiently.
Subject matter expert for user research. Involved in user research preparation and data collection, bringing clinical expertise to how studies are designed and executed.
Conduct eye examinations for trial users and stakeholders as needed using our own onsite facilities to advise custom IXI product configurations.
Continuous communication with our lens production facility in Lieto, and managing lens orders with accuracy.
Advocacy & training. Increasing vision correction expertise inside IXI and acting as the go-to person for the rest of the organization on these topics. Externally represent IXI in the vision care community, building visibility and relationships in the industry.
What You Bring
We’re looking for a person with the right clinical grounding, combined with the drive and curiosity to apply that expertise in a different professional setting.
Formal qualification as an optometrist (or ophthalmologist).
A varied career background – we'll get excited if you have experience beyond traditional optometry.
Genuine enthusiasm and open mindedness for technological development. We're creating something new, and you should be excited about disrupting the eyewear space.
A bias toward moving things forward without waiting for a perfect plan. You take action once you have enough to go on, and you follow through on what you start.
Strong people skills, you’ll be working across many internal teams and meeting external visitors or users on regular basis.
Professional English skills, Finnish considered a plus.
Understanding lens manufacturing (materials, edging, lens coatings, production constraints) is considered a plus.

Work with an innovative, growth-minded and international team that values openness, creativity and collaboration.
Dynamic startup work environment with minimal bureaucracy.
