Intro
Monta powers the EV charging ecosystem. With 300,000+ monthly users and millions of charge sessions every month, our platform accelerates the electrification of mobility.
This is a fast-moving place. The problems are hard, the pace is quick, and the bar is high. If you like real ownership, figuring things out, and seeing the direct impact of your work, you’ll do well with us.
AI is built into how we work. It helps us ship faster, make better decisions, and stay lean. Everyone at Monta is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully — and to find smart ways to use them to move the work forward.
Our principles keep us grounded: Build Together & Finish, Sweat the Details, Customer First, and Aim for the Moon.
The best part of Monta is the people — sharp, ambitious, and good to be around. You’ll be challenged, supported, and trusted to deliver.
We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (Operations) who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, take ownership, and build with us — through the grind and the wins.
This Is What You Will Achieve
Build the foundations — set the controls and policies Monta will scale on for years, not just patch what exists today.
Own the cash — give leadership a clear, daily view of every euro, pound and dollar across the group.
Be a trusted partner — work with HR, AR, Payments and our auditors so Finance is an enabler, not a bottleneck.
Impact — your work will touch hundreds of thousands of users and accelerate the EV revolution.
Solve hard problems — bring clarity and focus where priorities compete and time is short.
Turn vision into reality — balance ambition with sleeves-rolled up execution that moves the company forward.
What You Will Do
Financial controls and reporting integrity
Design, document and run the financial control framework across all entities.
Own financial compliance, governance and the integrity of reported numbers.
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the team and Outsourced providers.
Enforce T&E policy and compliance.
Accounts payable
Own the AP process end to end.
Manage inter-company cash funding for vendor payables and payroll.
Act as the escalation point for AP queries from the business and from our outsourced bookkeepers.
Accounts receivable
Oversee AR controls and reporting, partnering with the AR Manager, who owns billing and collections.
Review the AR ledger, aged debt and bad debt provisions each month.
Track DSO and cash collection against targets, and feed collections into the cash forecast.
Treasury and cash management
Own daily cash visibility across the group's banking partners, entities and currencies.
Own bank reconciliations and keep them current.
Build and run the short-term cash forecast, and flag funding needs early.
Manage payment runs, bank mandates and signatory controls.
Manage FX exposure and inter-company cash movements in line with group policy.
Payroll and employee compensation
Own payroll accuracy across every Monta entity and country.
Review payroll systems and keep them compliant.
Partner with HR on employment contracts, compensation and benefits.
Statutory compliance
Own statutory compliance and filings across entities, with the Senior Financial Accountant on VAT and audit support.
Support the annual audit led by the Senior Finance Manager.
Continuous improvement
Improve AR, AP, payroll and control processes as Monta scales, with ERP and tooling changes led by the Senior Finance Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with 5+ years’ experience, 2+ in a controller role.
Hands-on AR, AP and payroll owner across multiple countries and entities.
Treasury-savvy: cash visibility, bank reconciliations and forecasting across currencies.
Controls builder who designs, runs and reviews controls and reconciliations.
Statutory reporting pro under IFRS or Danish GAAP.
Confident managing outsourced bookkeepers and holding them to a high bar.
Clear & pragmatic communicator who builds alignment fast.
Resilient, curious, and hands-on in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Authentic team player with empathy, openness, and ownership.
Comfortable with AI-powered tools to accelerate your work (Copilot, Notion AI, Claude Code, etc.), with the willingness to learn more.
Nice to have
EMI or payments experience, including safeguarding and regulatory reporting.
SaaS or fintech scale-up background.
Multi-country payroll know-how across the UK, EU, Nordics or North America.
ERP and AP automation experience.
If the mission excites you but your experience isn’t a perfect 1:1 match, apply anyway — we care about potential, not perfection.
AI Competency
You’ll be expected to work with AI-powered tools. Some we use:
GitHub Copilot / Claude Code
ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude
Notion AI (docs, knowledge, meeting notes)
Analytics & ML: Langfuse, PyTorch, Mastra
AI-enhanced testing & monitoring (e.g., generative QA, Grafana ML)
We don’t expect mastery of all — but we expect comfort learning, experimenting, and adopting AI responsibly.
Why Monta
Impact, not easy mode — your work matters, and you’ll feel it every day.
Ownership from day one — we don’t micromanage, we expect you to deliver.
The grind is real — priorities shift, and flexibility is sometimes needed to get things across the finish line. But so are the rewards: impact, growth, and a team that has your back.
The people are extraordinary — talented, driven, and fun to work with. You’ll be challenged, supported, and inspired in equal measure.
What We Offer
A yearly education budget and extra days off to use it.
A friendly and social company culture with movie nights, Friday bars, pub crawls, and more.
Free lunch every day.
Pension & health coverage to keep you secure for today and tomorrow.
Paid parental leave to support life's big moments.
Warrants program - be part of our growth story.
Flexible working hours; as long as you're at key meetings and delivering great work, we trust you to manage your schedule.
Please send us your application in English.
To succeed in this position, your spoken and written English skills need to be proficient. Since Monta is a globally active company, you'll be communicating often and regularly with our co-workers and partners around the world, making your professional English knowledge essential.
Please note that we don't accept unsolicited applications from headhunters or recruitment agencies. Unsolicited applications sent to our company or co-workers are considered to be the property of Monta, and we won't agree to pay any referral compensation or recruiter fee without a signed agreement.
