The Role:
We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to supercharge our backend ecosystem that supports our Product.
Our scaling Vet SaaS platform powers hundreds of vet practices every day to run their businesses end to end. Our Backend team is responsible for building the infrastructure that our products are built on.
What you will do:
You'll be involved in the entire product development lifecycle including the design, development, deployment and maintenance of new and existing features
Design and implement RESTful APIs
Collaborate with Product and Engineering leads to ensure features/changes meet business requirements and deliver against Product OKR’s
Optimize the performance of applications for full-scale production deployments
Work closely with frontend and other engineers to gain understanding of new features, dependencies, and technical details
Drive engineering best practices with the team, leading on code reviews, pair programming and sprint planning
You continuously learn about new technologies to find ways to implement them in your work and share with the team
Lead on Code Reviews, Retros and Sprint planning with the team
Your Experience:
You have extensive experience building high-quality software and have a track record of success in backend development using PHP Laravel
Senior Engineering proven experience; you confidently operate at this level across your code, stakeholder management and operational delivery
You are solution driven with the ability to understand the big picture of the product you build
You have built ground up features with test strategies, sprint milestones and led scrum activity for backend teams
High Availability applications/SaaS experience is key for this role
Experience in fast paced start ups or scale ups will be an advantage for this role, being able to understand how earlier stage products are deployed
Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure
